Biopolymer cutlery are made from renewable plant resources and are compostable in a commercial facility. PET plastics are made from petroleum, a non-renewable resource and are not compostable. While recycled PET plastic is a better choice than virgin PET plastic, the challenge is that only 10% of plastic is actually recycled.
